Volunteering: Or how I learned to stop worrying.

As some of you may recall, I posted a diary this July about the problems my small WI community was facing with our local Obama grassroots group.  http://www.dailykos.com/...

Our leader was upset with Barack over FISA, and had abandoned us without anyone to take over.  I was about to go to college and was concerned I didn't have the skills or time to run the group myself.

To make a long story short, our group has refocused and is back on track!  We have a great new leader for our team, and the Obama campaign rented an office downtown that we use.  Some of our activities we've done over this summer include canvassing, phonebanking, and staffing the democrat booth at the local county fair.  The former leader we had who left over FISA has returned, and even proudly displays 2 Obama signs in his yard.

I've found through my experiences the best way to stop worrying about the daily trackers, fretting over polls, or wondering how voters will react to Palin is by getting off the computer and into the office.
